7 Time Management Strategies For An Easy Life

Nowadays, we live in a fast-paced busy world and time management strategies are crucial.
Workload, stress, and sleep deprivation is ever increasing.
Mobile devices have TAKEN OVER our lives – regular distractions from emails, phones, and social media notifications.

Apart from all of this, you are expected to do your household chores, take care of yourself, spend time with your family and friends and also do a long list of other things.

Taking this into consideration,

How Do We Then Not Overwork Ourselves?

In this article, I will share with you 7 Time Management Tips for having an Easy Life.

Before we go to the tips, let’s first understand the concept of time management –
There are people who earn $1000 a month, and also those who earn $1 million a month.

Does that mean the millionaires accomplish 1000 more tasks than an average person?

Of course NOT.

The reality is that they do the same, if not a lesser number of tasks. However, the difference is that the millionaires do the more important ones.

This brings us to the concept of Time Management – it’s not about how many tasks you can get done.

Rather, it is about doing fewer things but focusing on most important & result-oriented tasks.

Here are 7 Time Management Tips for having an Easy Life:

TIP #1: Do that single most important task of the day from 9 am to 12 pm.

Researchers have found that employees do their hardest work between 9 AM and 12 PM (3 hours of the day). After that, productivity tends to drop.

Another interesting fact – 20% of the average workday is spent on “crucial” and “important” things, while 80% of the average workday is spent on things that have “little or no value.”

Let’s be realistic –

We cannot be 100% productive the entire day.
We get tired.
We get distracted.
This is normal.
That is life.

So, what does this mean to you?
It means that you must prioritize the most important task for the day.

Before the day begins, Ask Yourself:

Begin your day by working on this task, while you are fresh and full of energy.

TIP #2: If You Are In Business, Spend 80% Of Your Time Communicating With Prospective Clients.

Let’s start from the very beginning –
In order to make money, you need to MAKE SALES.
In order to make sales, you need to COMMUNICATE with prospective clients.

This is the MOST IMPORTANT ACTIVITY that actually brings you money.

Lots of the other things have little or no value – for example, most clients won't notice the little improvements you made to your business card design, your website or your office.

People DO NOT care about you or your company.
They are interested in solving their problems.
That’s when they are ready to pay you money.

If not – correct this as soon as possible!

TIP #3: Work For 50 Minutes, Take Rest For 15 Minutes.

At first sight, it may seem like in order to be productive; you have to work a lot. However, in reality, this is NOT the case.

Our brain is somewhat like a muscle – in order to work efficiently, it needs to have rest. If you try to overwork it, your results go down.

For example, a research found that the highest-performing 10% of the employees tended to work for 52 minutes followed by a 17-minute break.

Those 17 minutes were often spent away from the computer by taking a walk, doing exercises, or talking to co-workers.

TIP #4: Give Yourself Enough Time To Sleep.

Nearly 1/3 of American working adults get less than 6 hours of sleep per night. {Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, 2012}

Actually, exhaustion drastically brings down your efficiency.

As a matter of fact, sleep deprivation is now costing U.S. companies $63.2 billion a year in lost productivity. Moreover, they are more irritable and more likely to explode. {Harvard Medical School, 2013}

It also leads to a whole array of other problems. For example, 20% of auto accidents are due to drowsy drives. {Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, 2012}

So Take Good Care Of Yourself – make sure you get your 8-hour beauty sleep.

TIP #5: Put The Ideas That You’ve Learnt Into Practice, RIGHT AWAY.

Statistics show that we retain 10% of what we read, 30% of what we see, and 90% of what we do.

What does this mean to you?
It means that if you read a piece of advice and you didn't put it into practice Right Away, you will soon forget most of this information.

Basically, the time you spent learning was a complete waste of time.

In order to correct this, put the ideas that you’ve learnt into practice right away. This way, you’ll retain 90% of what you’ve learnt.

TIP #6: Plan Fewer Tasks For The Day.

As we already discussed, productivity is not about doing more tasks.

It is actually the opposite – you need to do fewer tasks but really focus on the more important ones.

Another interesting study found that it always takes almost twice the amount of time to complete a certain task than what you thought it would.

Therefore, if you plan many tasks for the day, it is likely that you won’t be able to accomplish all of them. This will make you more stressed.

Instead, plan fewer tasks for the day and make sure those are important ones.

TIP #7: Eliminate As Many Tasks As You Can From Your To-Do List.

The golden rule of productivity is – ‘In Order To Be Successful, you need to concentrate only on the most significant tasks.’

In order to do that, you need to eliminate the least important ones.
